Mayabunder, May 6: The election of Adhyaksha and Up-Adhyaksh/Up-Adhyaksha for the 3rd  year term of Zilla Parishad, North & Middle Andaman will be held on May 11, 2024 at 10.30 am in the Conference Hall of DC’s Office, N&MA, Mayabunder. Oath will be administered to the newly elected Adhyaksha and Up-Adhyaksh/Up-Adhyaksha on the same day at 3 pm in the Community Hall, Gram Panchayat Pokadera (Danapur).

Port Blair, May 4: The Child Helpline 1098 in collaboration with the State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) under the Directorate of Social Welfare has conducted an awareness program at Marina Park. The programme was aimed at raising awareness about legal adoption and the services provided by Child Helpline 1098. The joint effort between Child Helpline 1098 and SARA demonstrates a shared commitment to advocate for the rights and well-being of children, particularly those in need of a stable and nurturing family environment.

Port Blair, May 5: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands to include the Jarawa Tribes in the Electoral Process of 2029 Parliament Election.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament expressed his sincere appreciation for the participation of the Shompen Tribe in the voting process in considerable numbers during the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Port Blair, May 4: As part of ‘Prakriti Shantiniketan-the Nature classroom programme’, the 4th Awareness Camp was organized on April 29, 2024 by the Wildlife Division Port Blair, Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. About 30 school students and teachers of GDMS participated in the programme.

The main objective of this camp was to orient students to the unique biological and cultural aspects of Nature Park and Interpretation Centre, Haddo, to expose students to the conservation and sustainability practice of the park and to develop an appreciation of the need for biodiversity conservation. This immersive camp offers participants a unique opportunity to engage in educational workshop and guided nature walk led by experienced staff. The nature awareness camp seeks to educate, inspire and empower the students to foster a sense of community and shared responsibility by means of field visit, classroom session, drawing competition and quiz competition.
